The brief
Print supports in a different material from the model. That is the whole requirement, and everything else follows from it.
The buyer already runs a Bambu A1 mini with a BMCU 370C PRO. The BMCU pushes every filament through one nozzle, so each material change costs a purge and support interfaces risk contamination. This is about escaping that, not repeating it.

Why volume is measured in dual-material mode
This is the rule that decides most of the verdicts below, and it is the one an earlier version of this comparison applied inconsistently.
Manufacturer headline volumes are single-nozzle figures roughly four times in five. On an IDEX machine the parked second carriage steals X travel, and the loss is often brutal.

Czech retailers advertise the X2D as 256 × 256 × 260, which is the single-nozzle union figure. Bambu's own spec table gives 235.5 mm for dual-nozzle printing.
Tool changers mostly escape this, because heads dock outside the build cube rather than sharing a gantry. That is the strongest structural argument for a tool changer in this price class.
How to read the prices
EU retailers quote VAT-inclusive prices to a Czech buyer, so their number is the number. US, Chinese and crowdfunding prices are net: add 21% Czech VAT on goods plus shipping, plus 1.7% duty under CN 8485 20, plus a courier clearance fee of roughly 350 to 600 CZK. That gap is big enough to move a machine across the line on its own.
Two specifics worth knowing. Flashforge ships DDP to Czechia, meaning it pays the duties, taxes and VAT itself, so the listed EUR price is final. Bondtech, being Swedish, charges Czech VAT at the same 21% and no duty, so its displayed figures are final too.

The recommendation
Snapmaker U1, 21,814 CZK from eu.snapmaker.com
It is not the cheapest. It is the one where everything that matters after the purchase already exists.
- 270 × 270 × 270 with all four toolheads mounted. Docks sit outside the build area, so there is no penalty in any axis.
- About a year in the field. Monthly firmware, a published troubleshooting taxonomy, and a first-layer regression fixed in two days and fully closed in 29.
- A full field-replacement parts library you can actually buy. This is the single biggest separator in this comparison.
- Open in the ways that matter here. Official SSH root since V1.2.0, unsigned firmware through the stock USB updater, GPL-3.0 and AGPL-3.0 sources published, plain Klipper G-code with no producer check, and stock upstream OrcaSlicer driving all four heads. No cloud account.
- 0.056 g re-prime per tool change, against a full nozzle purge every time on the BMCU.
Three things to know before ordering
- Soft TPU is the real risk against this use case. The auto-feeder is officially unusable below 95A and sub-90A is still under validation a year in. An independent lab found TPU unreliable, with recurring clogs and under-extrusion. Workable with manual loading and a loosened idler, but it is a tuning project. PETG or PVA support interfaces are the reliable path, and they are the ones you want anyway.
- The top panel is flimsy and Snapmaker has declared it by-design. Two separate reviewers had panels pop off while removing shipping tape. Cosmetic, but cut the tape carefully.
- Leave Advanced Mode permanently enabled, or stock firmware silently reverts

Add the Top Cover at EUR 159 and a hardened hot end 4-pack at EUR 54 and you land at 26,982 CZK, still inside budget, with ABS, ASA, PA, PC and abrasives unlocked.
If you want to spend less
Flashforge Creator 5 16,476-18,902 CZK
Four toolheads and a genuine 256 mm cube that all four heads can reach, confirmed both by Flashforge's single unqualified figure and by two independent hands-on reviewers. It uses barely half the budget.
The reason it is not the pick: Flashforge sells no Creator 5 spare parts at all. Three months after launch its accessories store carries twelve items and every one is for a different printer. No toolhead, no nozzle assembly, no extruder, no hotend, at any price. On a machine with four toolheads that is the wrong risk to carry. Get a written answer from Flashforge on spare toolhead availability before ordering.
Two more things to weigh. Its launch review wave was almost entirely sponsored or affiliate-driven, with exactly one reviewer stating they bought the machine, and mainstream outlets ignored it completely. And the "Zero Purge Waste" marketing is false: measured, it is 62 g against a Bambu P1S with AMS at 128 g on the same model, so roughly half, not zero. That advantage also only holds with Flashforge's own filament profiles, because they tuned the purge only for their own material. With third-party filament and untouched defaults it purges at single-nozzle AMS levels. It is a slicer setting you can fix, and you would, but it should not have shipped that way.
Flashforge Creator 5 Pro 20,116-22,542 CZK
No enclosure kit exists for the base machine at any price, and a DIY box would not reproduce the actively heated 65 °C chamber, so the Pro is the only route to those materials.
Against that: it shipped purging straight down past the intake of its own chamber heater, which Fabbaloo filed under "fire" and "safety" and 3Druck reproduced deliberately. Flashforge responded in about 48 hours and has since relocated the purge, but reviewers agree it is a patch rather than a redesign, and the one reviewer who tested both machines scored the Pro 3/5 against 4/5 for the cheaper base model.
If you want to build something
Sovol SV08 + Bondtech INDX ~29,200 CZK
Roughly 350 × 330 × 340 usable, the largest of anything on the list, and the cheapest per-material expansion of any route: a third or fourth material costs about $72 for a tool plus a dock. Bondtech is Swedish, so spares arrive next day with no duty. Everything is Klipper and GPL-3.0.
The risk that used to make this unrecommendable is now settled, and settled well. The official integration author publishes his working config: docks sit in a negative-Y strip in front of the bed, costing 20 mm of Y and zero X, on a machine he has run through nearly 4,000 tool changes.
What remains is an early-adopter position on a shipping product. The integration guide is days old, Bondtech's Klipper load-cell config is still missing and has to be pulled from a GitHub issue, and there is a live cluster of filament-load and homing bugs filed within the last three weeks. The repo is very active, which is what you want on a young product. Budget headroom is thin: realistically 29,400 to 30,300 CZK once card FX spread and an unpublished FedEx rate land.
One structural note: you permanently lose the SV08's glass lid, because all tools rise with the gantry. No enclosure, so no ABS or ASA on this route.
Passes the requirements, but I would not buy
Formbot Xplorer IDEX 28,362 CZK
Genuinely good hardware on paper. Open CAD, open configs, a 175-page manual, two complete hotends in the box, and standard Trianglelab CHC Volcano hotends taking E3D Volcano M6 nozzles at about $2 with no chip and no DRM, which is the best lock-in story in this comparison. A Czech warehouse ships it, and the designer answers builders personally.
Formbot's own on-page sold counter reads 33. Roughly 33 of these exist worldwide. Three people started public build series and none published a finished build. The single Reddit thread about it says there is very little first-hand experience and received zero replies.
The engineering practices match that scale. The firmware config repo has no dev branch, and a contributor warned in writing that "my simple commit here will get distributed as an update to all printers". A shipped firmware bug once drove one gantry into the other when a print was cancelled. The manual records that there are no Z-motor brakes, decided on cost grounds, so the bed descends whenever motor power is cut. You would print 133 or more parts yourself before starting, on the A1 mini, in materials you do not currently run.
The designer estimates 18 hours for himself and about 30 for someone new; a builder attempting the harder IQEX variant reported roughly 40. Buying this means joining a 33-unit engineering project rather than buying a printer. That may appeal. It is not the same purchase.
Pricing trap: the widely quoted $1,234 is the China variant, which breaks the budget at 31,415 CZK once Czech VAT applies. Only the Czech-warehouse IDEX kit at $1,348.05 fits, and adding pre-printed parts for $150 pushes it back over at 31,360 CZK.
Sovol M1D Essential 30,254 CZK
Kept in the ranking despite being 254 CZK over, which is 0.85%.
Architecturally it is the best answer to the original complaint. Sovol's own footnote settles the question that mattered: the six-channel loader is bound one-to-one to six separate toolheads with six separate melt zones, not multiplexed into one nozzle. Seven independently heated toolheads, IDEX plus tool changer, 300 × 300 × 350.
Four things temper that.
- Nobody has printed on one. No independent reviewer has verifiably produced a print. The only hands-on material is an unboxing.
- The mode that suits this use case is the small one. Sovol's recommended workflow, dedicating the fixed left head to support material, runs at 240 × 300 × 350, under the floor. The full 300 mm needs support on one of the six swappable heads, costing a tool change at every support transition.
- The EU warehouse is not promised for Czechia. Sovol says "most EU countries" and never names it, and Czechia sits in their more expensive shipping band. Shipped from China you are the importer and it lands near 37,700 CZK.
- The commitment closes long before the evidence arrives. Campaign ends 27 August. Refunds are free to 3 September, cost 8% to 10 September, then impossible, roughly two months before it ships. A backer has no EU withdrawal right and no two-year conformity guarantee, against a Hong Kong entity.
Sovol's one prior campaign is genuinely reassuring on delivery: the SV08 Max had over 500 of 573 units in transit within 18 days of closing, ahead of schedule. But that was a scaled-up version of a shipping product, and the M1D is a new architecture at four times the backer count.
Pricing, definitively, because published figures contradict each other: $1,299 Super Early Bird, $1,399 Early Bird, $1,499 KS Special, $1,799 MSRP, plus $139 shipping to CZ. The $1,199 in press was a VIP price behind a $20 pre-launch deposit and closed when the campaign went live on 28 July. Super Early Bird was down to 55 units of 500 on 9 August.
WonderMaker ZR Ultra-S Do not buy
It is still not recommendable, for a different reason.
A hands-on review of a second-batch unit published on 9 August 2026 found that the Klipper min_temp on all four nozzles and the heated bed is set to -100 °C, which defeats thermistor and cable-break detection entirely, with heater verification loosened well below Klipper defaults. If a sensor slips or a cable breaks, the nozzle keeps heating, inside a sealed 60 °C chamber. Cable breakage was the beta team's headline complaint, and the shipped configuration switches off the detection for it.
The same review found the bed not correctly screwed down from the factory, toolhead 3 silently skipped by the setup calibration routine so out-of-box multi-material prints have a head at the wrong height, a firmware updater that only ever checks the inserted USB stick while reporting you are up to date, and a prime tower that collapsed on four consecutive attempts at the same height.
Ownership is worse than the reliability. There is no purchasable replacement toolhead anywhere, confirmed by sweeping SainSmart's full 2,103-product catalogue and by WonderMaker's own wiki, which has a "Toolhead Replacement" page that exists and is completely empty while thirty sibling pages are written. The firmware also fails the GPL source-offer test: the stock config declares Klipper modules that do not exist upstream, while all nine repos in WonderMaker's GitHub org are zero commits ahead of upstream.
Kickstarter updates stopped on 22 May 2026 after "Second Batch Dispatched", 2.5 months of silence against 1,114 backers. The Discord invite on their own site returns "Unknown Invite".
Two fair points for the record. The 3 January 2026 revision list added a protective sleeve to the toolhead cable harness and a Z-limit sensor, and the reviewer inspecting a second-batch unit could not reproduce the beta testers' cabling complaint. And the Ultra series has no filament cutter at all, confirmed by WonderMaker's own FAQ, so the cutter-related failures that dominate negative ZR coverage do not transfer to this machine. If you buy it anyway, buy from na3d.cz, the exclusive CZ/SK distributor, for Czech statutory rights and an address a 32 kg box can go back to.

The X2D is the painful one. It is in stock in Czechia at 23,490 CZK and would otherwise have been a serious contender. It fails only on width, and only in the mode you would actually use.

On architecture
AtomForm / MOVA Palette 300 fails twice over. Czechia is absent from its published EU shipping list, and its twelve auto-swapping nozzles appear to feed a single 350 °C hotend from a unified filament system, which is the shared-nozzle design R2 exists to exclude.
Also worth naming, because they are marketed as dual and are not: the Wanhao Duplicator D12/300 is two feeders into one nozzle and is the most convincing false positive in the category, with specs that otherwise fit perfectly. Same for Zonestar's "4-IN-1-OUT", Geeetech's A-series "2-in-1-out" and "3-in-1-out", the Lotmaxx Shark, the Creality CR-X, Tronxy's VEHO-2E line and the Flashforge AD5X.
Watch list
LightMake L4
Another exclusion that was wrong, on the exact number it rested on: 145 × 167 is the quad-zone batch mode, not multi-material. Multi-material is 354 × 350 × 386, which passes comfortably. Four independent heads, each with its own filament path and continuous heating. VIP price lands near 27,978 CZK before shipping and duty. Kickstarter opens around 25 August 2026, shipping estimated November.
One caveat that is not the machine's fault: lightmake.tech is unreachable from this connection. O2 intercepts it with a certificate for *.o2.cz and serves a "Nebezpečná stránka" block page, so the manufacturer's own spec table could not be read and everything here rests on three independent outlets.
Creality K3 with KliTek
Previously assumed to fail R2. It does not: Creality's own FAQ confirms the nozzle, hotend and filament tube swap together, so each channel has its own melt zone. Q3 2026, with no published price or build volume. Worth re-checking in October.
Prusa CORE One L
Real and released at 300 × 300 × 330, which clears the volume floor, and Prusa says INDX conversion kits for it arrive later this year. At 44,900 CZK for the printer plus 16,233 CZK for the 4-tool kit it is far outside this budget, but it is the machine to want if the budget ever doubles: Prague-based, CZK VAT-inclusive, in-country warranty and spares, and the deepest resale market in the country.
The option of buying nothing
Worth stating, because it is the baseline every number above should be measured against.
The A1 mini with the BMCU can already print supports in a different material. A PETG interface under a PLA model releases cleanly, and the BMCU will feed it. What you do not get is the thing you are actually buying: every material change purges through the one shared nozzle, so a support-heavy print wastes a great deal of filament and takes much longer.
So 30,000 CZK buys the elimination of purge waste and swap time, plus a build volume roughly 50% larger in each axis than the A1 mini's 180 mm. It does not buy a capability you lack outright. If the waste is tolerable, the honest answer is to wait: the LightMake L4 and Creality K3 both land within months, and the Sovol M1D will have independent reviews by December.
Whatever you buy, keep the A1 mini and the BMCU. None of these machines can use a BMCU, so nothing transfers, but nothing is stranded either. The two become complementary: the new machine for genuine multi-material work, the A1 mini for cheap many-colour single-material printing beyond four heads.

Method
Seven parallel research streams on 9 August 2026, each required to fetch a live page before stating any price, volume or stock figure, and to label anything resting on a search snippet rather than a fetched page. A separate stream re-verified the previous document's exclusions rather than inheriting them, which is how three of them turned out to be wrong. The plan was reviewed by two independent reviewers before any research ran; their main correction was that build volume had to be judged in multi-material mode uniformly, which is what removed the Bambu X2D.
What this does not cover, stated rather than hidden
- Reddit was unreachable. It returns 403 to automated fetchers and presents a human-verification wall to a real browser. Owner sentiment here comes from Klipper Discourse, the Voron, Prusa, Snapmaker and Sovol forums, GitHub issues, Printables and YouTube transcripts pulled directly, but the largest single community was not searchable.
- Facebook owner groups are behind a login wall, which matters most for WonderMaker, where the original beta-tester statement survives only through a third party's paraphrase.
- lightmake.tech is blocked by O2 on this connection, so that manufacturer's specs are second-hand.
- Kickstarter, Alza, All3DP, Fabbaloo and Printables all block plain fetching. Where cited, their content was retrieved by browser or by curl with a browser user-agent, and where it could not be retrieved at all, that is said in place.
On coverage claims
An earlier version asserted that only three qualifying tool changers existed worldwide "despite exhaustive search". That phrasing is unfalsifiable, and it was wrong: this pass found the Formbot Xplorer, the Bondtech INDX conversion route, Prusa's CORE One INDX and the LightMake L4, none of which it had considered. The claim here is narrower and checkable: these are the machines found on 9 August 2026 by searching manufacturer sites, EU and Czech retailers, review-site roundups, Kickstarter and Indiegogo, GitHub, and Chinese-language sources.
